Bridget Jones' Diary Analysis

Here we have an establishing shot showing three characters all look like old-fashioned women.

Here we see two more characters as well of a close up of one of the first female characters so we are immediately introduced to the main character, but we, as an audience, are left to guess this and ask the questions about who she is.

mid shot while the opening titles are shown of an abandoned party hat on a pillar.

A long shot used to show the characters home and the kind of area she lives in.

we have a crane form this shot...

...To to this shot still while the titles are shown to tell the audience that she lives on the top level of this block of flats.

We have a long shot here with the titles being shown on one side of the screen and the characters doings on the other side.

The titles as shown in a writing style font, almost like a diary being written.

There is a cross fade as we see a passage of time, but not from one location to the next. it is all in one location.

The titles are in a pinky-orange as a very vague colour which could suggest an emphasis of her depression.

a mid shot shows more of the face so we can see that she is depressed and extremely upset.

the titles are still in a writing font as if the story is being written in line with the film.

We, as an audience, can now see that this is the main character and that the "diary(film)" belongs to her.

Finally the title of the film itself are in block capitals and in a solid firm font instead of a written style font like a title of a diary.
